Checking guide
Verify files and signature offline, without accessing the sender’s servers. You need the record, the appropriate verifier and trusted public keys obtained through a reliable separate channel.
In this fictional example, two document versions are selected.
Identify the documents, retained versions and date covered by the record.
Keep the record, the checking software and the information supplied for checking its origin. Confirm how to obtain that information from a reliable source.
Use the software supplied for the record to check what was received.
Distinguish a completed check from a failed check, missing information or a document that was not included.
Retain the result and the materials needed to repeat the check later.
The check covers listed files, their hashes, the signature and trusted keys. Keep the report with the manifest to document the scope examined.
